  2. Jamal says:

Came here to see the demo of the plugin

  3. admin says:

There is no demo, but I have one album created in this post => http://maugustyniak.corpface.com/polishing/ . This album has been created without post/page, so I added syntax to my post to display it.

  4. Cos Ryan says:

Hi there… I’ve just installed the photo album plugin and made a post on my website (cos-ryan.co.uk). Just wanted to know how to get that nice little effect where you click the thumbnail and it opens up within the same page.

At the moment, when you click the thumbnail it just links to the direct image file.

    Help!

  5. f8f8 says:

how can show thumbnail in Sections or Categories not only album name

  6. f8f8 says:

I KNOW IN SOME Theme NOT SHOW thumbnail

  7. admin says:

    what theme you use ?
are you using syntax pasted in post/page ?
what version of WP you base ?

can you paste the link here to your site to see how it looks like ?

  8. andyou says:

thanks man ! gread plugin, will welcome the my need

  9. I installed your plugin but don’t see where to apply changes to existing image posts. I could copy this:

to my post but how is the thumbnail created? Is the image automagically resized by the browser to fit the dimensions in the href tag? If so, do I have 2 images for each post (thumbnail + full size) or only one that is dynamically resized based on the path/url?

You say to add this syntax to add Albums to existing pages or posts:
[mpa:id=?] where ‘?’ is album ID, you can find the IDs on albums lists page. But I don’t see where it belongs in the post, or where the albums lists page is.

  10. Sorry the href tags were left out of my post, presumably to protect your site. You probably know what was there – the div class which I copied from your site, which contained the href and the img src. I was concerned about the alphanumeric reference: my existing posts have simple names, so if a new image file name is generated by the plugin I need to understand how to apply that to the images I have posted, and what syntax to apply to the html tags in the post.

  11. misiek says:

Not sure if I understand your issue correctly, but first of course you have to create your album, so on this page you have an option create with post or page. IF you will choice for example post, this automatically create empty normal post with syntax [mpa:?] inside. NOW, you have to add some images to your album, right ? to display them in this post.

Then if you need to add some content to this post, you must go to your posts edit page and just edit it like usually you do to update the content.

I do not create a thumbnails, not sure if you noticed this plugin use your images from media library of your WP, so the thumbnails are already created. I shrink them a little by setting up new with and height in tag, that;s all, thhis you can modify your self easly by editing view_album_photos.php file.

IF you create an album without post/page option, only an album will be created, if you need to put the album somewhere , just create post or page and paste the syntax in content, BUT its totally the same thing like in example above, it just save a time a little bit.

Relationship between album and post/page is only by putting this syntax in the content, there is no other any relations.

sorry but totally confused on this one, have no idea what is your problem, if something is left out of your content or whatever and doesn’t look correctly it probably your css theme problem not the plugin, I would not copy anything from my site because it does not make sense to me to do it.

Send me a link to your page which is not right and explain what is not right then I will try to help you

  13. misiek says:

And please remember I do not generate any images, you do it by putting them to your media library, so if you add another image to your library , please go to your administation -> Albums ->edit, then find your album and click on his name, it will redirect you to another page where you can add that just uploaded image to your album. You do not have to apply anything else.

  14. Thanks very much! I was able to start an album (found the album page, created a new post, then uploaded images) but the results are confusing: the thumbnails are posted and then the full-size image. The thumbnails do not link to the full-size image, only to themselves. I would like to see only the thumbnails on the page, and for them to link to the full-size image, preferably in a new window but most importantly so I can easily return to the page and / or scroll through the rest of the images.

The html source is consistent for all images but since it was generated automatically for each upload, I’m not sure how to fix the problem.

Finally, I see the caption only once in the html source, but it shows up twice in the page: once for the thumbnail and once again for the full-size image. (I would prefer to see it only once.)

    Here is my url: http://www.cerebellum.biz/category/my-albums/

    Thanks in advance :)

  15. Finally, since I see only the full-size images in my html source code, I cannot correct the text inside the alt or title tags for the thumbnail images – only the titles of the full-size images can be changed, unless of course I delete the entire album and start over. :(

  16. misiek says:

I saw your page and you right looks weird, BUT I viewed the source of your page, and I CANNOT FIND ANYTHING what belongs to my plugin,

I do not use “dl” tags, where did you get this from ? you had to change the plugin source code your self, for that I am not responsible , sorry but you had to change something what display thumbs and images.

Also my plugin does not display alt tags for any images , sorry

Are you sure its my plugin ? it doesn’t look like

I am positive that its NOT MY SOURCE OF CODE.

OR you doing something totally wrong, how you put the thumbs in your post ?

  17. Your plugin is installed on my server in the /var/www/wp-content/plugins directory:
    drwxr-xr-x 2 www-data www-data 4096 2009-04-20 23:39 misiek-photo-album
In wordpress admin, the plugin entry in the left menu shows a red #1, which probably indicates an installation error but I tried to deactivate and reactivate the plugin and there\’s no difference.
I do have an Album List at
    http://www.cerebellum.biz/wp-admin/admin.php?page=misiek-photo-album/album.php
that shows the list of the photo albums I created under \’Albums -> Add New\’ in the left column of wordpress admin:
Name Description Edit Page/Post Link Syntax
Arctic Close Encounters Modify | Delete [mpa:id=3,header=false,desc=false]
Stolen Identity Modify | Delete [mpa:id=2,header=false,desc=false]
    Easter Modify | Delete [mpa:id=4,header=false,desc=false]
I added the images to the albums from the media library because that is the only way that I\’m able to upload photos.
If I select the album in this Album List page, I can add and remove photos to/from the album (from the media library).
    The album url shows:
http://www.cerebellum.biz/wp-admin/admin.php?page=misiek-photo-album/album.php&action=photos&id=4 (etc: id changes for each album)
If I select \’Modify\’ in the Album List page I can change the album name or description.

I do not see why your code does not appear in my photo album, except for the fact that the uploads generate their own code for each image: perhaps your code is not overwriting the existing code? Is there a permissions issue I should check?

  18. I don’t see an installation error associated with your plugin: the red #1 that appears next to ‘Plugins’ in the left (admin) menu appears whether my plugins are activated or not – the number changes color (to blue) only when I’m in the plugins page. This could be a system-wide default to alert the administrator that there are active plugins.

  19. Sorry to bother you so much but I would like to understand what happened. When I deactivated your plugin the albums I had created with it disappeared. I then removed the posts to clean up the old code. Finally I recreated the albums in the Album List page. But when I returned to the site to view the pages I could not link to the albums, presumably because there were no wordpress posts to the ‘My Albums’ category,.

I then created a post for the first album (which has only one picture) and then tried to create a second post for the second album, which has a number of pictures. I could not do this: the WordPress ‘Add New Post’ option expects a single file to be uploaded (from the media library or from my computer), but not an entire album.

When I upload an image file, WordPress adds html code for the image post. Whether the post is created before or after the album is created, the wordpress html code for the (first) image remains, and the code from your plugin does not appear. The only place your plugin appears is in the url (as I posted earlier) when I create a new album or add images to it.

  20. misiek says:

    few guestions:

    - what WP version you’re using ?
    - what Mysql Server version you’re using ?
    - OS of the server, is it a linux or MS ?
    - did you made any changes in my plugin code ?

if yes deactivation/activation won’t help, you need to remove my plugin from server the upload fresh version from WP site.

This all seems to be kind of crazy things, I have no idea what can be wrong or what wrong you doing, this just should work.

If you still want to go with my plugin after this all, the better way is to giving the temporary access to your site and ftp or whatever you use, then I can check, I just don’t know how to help you without seeing this all.

  21. Thanks for your patience – I’m new at this but not too new – my OS (Linux) and the WP version etc are all new so that wasn’t the problem and I had ruled out just about everything else.

So I went back and carefully re-read the List Album page instructions: I had forgotten to select “Post” or “Page” in the Content Type when creating a new album. I deleted the albums and created them again (selected “Post” this time) and now it works. The thumbnails are not always to scale (there is some distortion) but that is another problem for another day. Nothing in this world is fool-proof ;-)

  22. misiek says:

I am glad that you figured this out.

But its the same thing if you create an album without post/page selected option, then paste the syntax to your existing post/page and creating an album with post/page option.

I did that to save a time, if you knew that your gallery will be in new post/page anyway it creates automatically.

So not sure you did wrong before.

That distortion could be your theme css problem, basically I base on FF and Firebug to figure out things like that.

    Goodluck.

  23. Steve says:

I just installed the plug-in and it seems to work pretty well, but anything following the thumbnails isn’t displayed until the end of my left sidebar – this leaves a huge gap between the thumbs and the comment section. Here’s a link so you can see what I’m talking about: http://stevecorn.com/wordpress/2009/04/bluebonnets/

    Am I doing something wrong?

    No you good

Basically I don’t involve any javascript code to calculate width of your content body, the thumbs are just floated left so they attach always to the next image, so in your example there is no enough room to put 6th thumb so it has been moved to the next line, and there is nothing what I can do about that.

You can do only one thing, increase width/height of the img thumg a little bit to remove the extra space.

  25. Steve says:

How do I change those thumb sizes?

and shouldn’t the size be decreased instead of increased so the 6th thumb can fit?

    I’m definitely confused. Sorry.

And thanks for the help – I’ve been on quite a few plug-in forums and you’re the first to actually answer any of my questions.

  26. Jappe Liljedahl says:

It would be greate if the page where i choose the images would be displayed in a table with rows and colums and thumbnail picture instead of a long page with large images
    otherwise its a greate plugin

  27. Jappe Liljedahl says:

to make myself more clear, I am talking about the admin part of the plugin

  28. misiek says:

hmm I am pretty positive that I display thumbs also there, you may check your thumb size in WP media settings.
As for as tables I thing divs floated left are better solution, but for sure should be there some pagination set, because it displays all images.

Sorry about that, I am just super busy can’t find a time to fix that little bugs

  29. Jappe Liljedahl says:

My thumbnails is 150×150, medium seize 300×300, max size 600×600

and in admin my pictures shows as the large version

and the folowing code is displayed under page source
    ##############################
Manage photos for Japan 2008 Album

  30. Chris G says:

I know your plugin doesnt include the alt and title attributes of the images, is it possible to change the source to include those attributes?

    Thanks

  31. Chris G says:

Never mind, I added a wpdb query and inserted the code. This is a great plug-in thanks for the work.

This is the new foreach loop I used.

    get_row(‘SELECT DISTINCT * FROM ‘.$wpdb->posts.’ AS POSTS
    WHERE POSTS.ID =’ . $image_num .”, ARRAY_A);

if (!empty($posts)) { // If the query returned something
    $post_title = $posts['post_title'];

    }
    ///////////////End Post Title ////////////////

    ?>

    <a href=” title=” ><img width=’70′ height=’70′ src=”>

  32. Josh Taylor says:

Building on Chris G’s post, here is how I got it to work.

    get_var(“SELECT DISTINCT post_title FROM wp_posts
    WHERE ID =’” . $image['media_id'] . “‘”);

    $post_title = $title_test;
    ?>

I put that after the foreach loop in view_album_photos.php and printed the $title_test to have the tile show. It would be really great if you to integrate this in the future as you have the only good gallery plugin!

  33. Blogabundo says:

Hi… I’m using this plugin in several projects (I find it simple but powerful… thx)

But I found a problem since configuring menu just appear with admin user (not even editor users)

How could I change this…? Or at least, modify the plugin?

    Thanks again

  34. hi, tnx for the plugin, it’s really cool.
i wanted to know if it’s possibile to set a standard img size? because they come out larger..
    http://uol.altervista.org/ll/?p=94

  35. misiek says:

sizes are configurable in your WP media option.

  36. Angelique says:

Any word if this plugin works with WP 2.8?

  37. misiek says:

    try and let us know

  38. Angelique says:

Seems to be good on 2.8. Running into a little weirdness with the Lightbox 2 integration, but I haven’t decided yet which plugin (Photo Album or Lightbox 2) is the cause.

  39. Angelique says:

I’m running into an issue where only one album shows up in the widget section? I can’t figure out what the logic is behind which of my albums is showing up in the logic section in order to manipulate it either.

  40. misiek says:

The last version 2.8 of WP is supported, did you upgrade to 3.0 ? it may not work, Sorry but I don’t plan any upgrades.

  41. Angelique says:

I’m running 2.9.2, but will eventually upgrade to 3.0, so I guess I need a new solution. Thanks for the head’s up, Misiek!
